BSG meets Caprica?

Io9.com reports a rumor that the BSG storyline may intertwine with Caprica. Executives are saying that we may see “The Final Five” and their lives on Caprica. Apparently they’ve also asked Lucy Lawless to join the Caprica cast in her portrayel of D’Anna Biers. Let the speculation begin!

The Final Five said themselves in BSG that they arrived at the Colonies too late to prevent the first Cylon war (though they may have had a hand in ending it). Since they supposedly create the other humanoid models after they arrive, I don’t see how the other humanoid models could be included in the scope of Caprica unless the series extends at least past the the begning of the first war and probably to near the end.

I would be shocked if this “rumor” was true. I would be happy if the series ends up covering that much time though.

That doesn’t make any sense though. The Final Five don’t arrive on Caprica until the closing stages of the First Cylon War. If BSG is set 40 years after the war (so around the time the Final Five show up) and 58 years after the current season of Caprica, that means we have about 18 years yet before The Final Five should arrive at all. Not to mention that The Final Five created D’Anna Beirs, so it wouldn’t make sense for her character to arrive until more than 18 years after what’s currently happening on Caprica.

I suppose they could jump ahead in the storyline somehow, which I’m not opposed to (though I love the direction of the series so far), but to include these BSG elements in the program as it appears now makes no sense at all.

The final five don’t even get to Caprica until late in the first war, so that doesn’t make any sense at all. No more retcon please. XD

One idea I have heard is that Lucy Lawless might play the human that the number threes were based on. THAT could be interesting. Plus, hearing her awesome accent is never a bad thing. ;)

Back in the days of the re-imagined BSG, I began to formulate the possibility that the “skinjobs” were actually genetically-enhanced clones of real humans from the first Cylon War. And, if this were to be looked into, that would explain why D’Anna Biers could be walking around and would certainly explain the Daniel Cylon model that was discontinued prior to BSG (thanks to Cavil).

Now, one might say that it was the Final Five who gave the first generation Cylons that gave them the designs and genetics to create the human models, since John Cavil is named after (and, according to the Final Five comics, resembled) Ellen Tigh’s father. But, I am leaning toward a combination of both, designs brought to the Colonial Cylons by the Final Five and duplicates of kidnapped humans during the first Cylon War. For that matter, I have been wondering, is the female Cylon hybrids all copies of Lucy Cain? Remember, she was kidnapped at the end of the first War.
