Daniel Graystone: Not the 7th Cylon

Ron Moore sure knows how to confuse us. In a recent interview with Den of Geek, he said the following about “Daniel” who is very briefly mentioned in Battlestar Galactica:

Is there a connection between the Daniel mentioned toward the end of Galactica and Daniel Graystone?

No, that was a complete coincidence of name. I didn’t realise how much people would glom onto that coincidence and start to read all kinds of things into it. There’s really nothing there.

So that’s the latest update on Daniel Graystone’s status. However, it directly conflicts with another statement that Ron Moore made asserting that “Daniel” was in Caprica. As The Caprica Times previously reported, in the podcast for Battlestar Galactica’s “No Exit” at the 31:03 mark Ron Moore exclaims,

“And Daniel has signifigance in Caprica as well.”

As executive producer, we’ll trust that Ron Moore knows what he’s talking about, however The Caprica Times is a bit skeptical as to what is really going on. Do the worlds of Caprica have room for another Daniel?

Daniel Graystone is the 7th Cylon

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Back after the Battlestar Galactica episode “No Exit” aired and it’s podcast was released, The Caprica Times asked, “Is Daniel Graystone the 7th Cylon?” The conclusion was that the mentioning of Daniel was a tease to make us infer that it might be the same Daniel that we know from the Caprica TV Series.

MHall of Galactica Science commented on that post, saying that Ron Moore (Executive Producer of both Battlestar Galactica and Caprica) had mentioned Daniel elsewhere in the podcast, stating, “And Daniel has significance in Caprica as well.” Relistening to the podcast, he does say this, beginning with Anders’ saying “Daniel” at 31:03 and ending at 31:12.

While there may still be another Daniel lurking the streets of Caprica the TV Series, The Caprica Times will conclude that Daniel Graystone is the seventh cylon model until he appears.

Is Daniel Graystone the 7th cylon?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

During the episode of Battlestar Galactica titled “No Exit”, we learned of a cylon model whose number was 7 and name was Daniel. Ellen mentions that he was a sensitive artistic type. As quickly as this astonishing reveal came, it went, for we learned that Cavil had tampered with the amniotic fluid meant for the Daniel copies and corrupted the genetic material. Since his mentioning, who Daniel was has become a hot topic for speculation among the fandom of Battlestar Galactica. Here we will set some facts straight.
