The infinity symbol has long been a reminder of the possibility of endless possibilities. It brings hope to a cruel, concrete world of black and white. Perhaps that is why the cylons chose to use it during their funeral ceremonies on the most recent episode of Battlestar Galactica, “Islanded in a Stream of Stars.” To the right we see a ceremonially used infinity symbol to aid in the funeral prayers for fallen cylon comrades via the Propworx Battlestar Props Auction.

In Caprica the infinity symbol will harken an important role. Many characters are intricately tied to the mystery behind the symbol and what it means to them – though some are unaware of it’s influence entirely. In the preview clip for the V-Club we see Lacy leading Daniel to a door with an infinity symbol affixed to it. What lies behind is so profound that it could be intricately interwoven into the curves of infinity as if it were at home there. ∞

In this Sci Fi Wire exclusive we see Zoe Graystone’s friend, Lacy (Magda Apanowicz) escorting Daniel Graystone through his first viewing of the V-Club. In the V-Club it seems that any of your wildest fantasies, no matter how hedonistic or dark, can unfold at your whim. Lacy guides Daniel through a tour of the Kill Zone (where you can murder whoever you please), a group sex and drug area, the Fight Room (as Lacy puts it, “You can frakking beat anyone you want!”) and a chamber designated for human sacrafice.

Daniel is horrified to learn that his creation, the holoband, has led to this. Intriguingly when he asks Lacy if Zoe and her used the sex rooms she says that though they first did, they began to shun the V-Club. She explains that their friend Ben showed them “the way” and everything changed. She goes on to talk of how right and wrong can only be known through the one true god and it’s this god that gave Zoe the gift of creating life.

From this small clip we see that Caprica will plunge into deep moral questions in a world with boundaries unlike our own. It begs to ask, when your imagination can be realized before you, what will you choose to see? What will others choose for you?
